What LE means
The washer has detected moisture where it doesn't belong, or there's a problem with the water level sensor.
Also shown as: 1E, 1C, LC, LC1, depending on the model.
Likely causes
- A small leak at a hose or connection
- Kinked supply or drain hose
- Too much detergent or non-HE detergent making excess suds
Safe first checks
- Look for any sign of a leak under and behind the washer. Fixing the leak clears the code.
- Make sure the supply and drain hoses aren't kinked. Don't remove the screw on the back that holds the drain hose.
- Run an empty cycle with no detergent. If suds appear, too much or non-HE detergent was used: keep running empty cycles until no suds appear.
When to stop
If there are no suds and the code continues, the washer needs service.
