Pentair salt chlorinator error code

Pentair salt chlorinator code Low Salt / Salt red: Salt low (red Salt light)

Pentair IntelliChlor salt chlorine generators

What Low Salt means

Red Salt light: salt is below 2800 ppm. It still makes chlorine at reduced efficiency. Below 2600 ppm it stops making chlorine until salt is added.

Also shown as: Salt red, depending on the model.

Likely causes

  • Salt diluted by rain, splash-out or backwashing

Safe first checks

  1. Test salt with a reliable test, then add pool salt per your pool's volume.
  2. Run the pump at least 24 hours after adding salt before trusting a new reading.

When to stop

Pentair's good range is 2800 to 4500 ppm. If salt tests fine but the light stays red, have the cell checked.

Parts that may help

Only order a part once the checks above point to it, and match the part number to your model.

Checked against: Pentair IntelliChlor IC15/IC20/IC40/IC60 installation and user's guide. Codes can differ by model and year, so confirm with your owner's manual.
