Pentair pool pump error code

Pentair pool pump code Priming Failure: Priming failure

Pentair IntelliFlo3 VSF and IntelliFlo VSF pumps

What Priming Failure means

The pump couldn't prime, often because there isn't enough water in the strainer pot. The ON/STOP light blinks red and the pump stops until it's resolved.

Likely causes

  • Low water in the strainer pot
  • Air leak at the pump lid or O-ring
  • Low pool water
  • Closed valves

Safe first checks

  1. Turn the pump off at the breaker, fill the strainer pot with water, and check that the lid O-ring is clean and seated.
  2. Make sure the pool water is mid-skimmer and suction valves are open.

When to stop

If it still won't prime, a pool pro should check for suction-side air leaks.

Parts that may help

Only order a part once the checks above point to it, and match the part number to your model.
