What P8 means
Pipe temperature error: the indoor coil temperature isn't behaving as expected for the mode.
Also shown as: 8 blinks, depending on the model.
Likely causes
- Dirty air filter or blocked airflow
- Refrigerant circuit problem
- Sensor problem
Safe first checks
- Turn the system off, then clean or replace the indoor unit's air filter.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the indoor unit's air inlet or outlet, or the outdoor unit.
When to stop
If P8 returns, it can point to a refrigerant problem. Refrigerant work needs an EPA-certified HVAC technician.
